Dr Alejandria is a Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of the Philippines-College of Medicine. Her research expertise is on the conduct of epidemiological researches, health care quality improvement researches, health policy and systems research and developing systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines. Dr Alejandria currently serves as a member of the COVID-19 Technical Advisory Group for the Department of Health and is the National Project Coordinator for the WHO SOLIDARITY Trial of the Philippines. She co-coordinates the COVID-19 Study Group at the University of the Philippines – Manila and the development of rapid evidence reviews on COVID-19 management. Through the PSMID, she coordinated the development of the living clinical practice guidelines on the management of COVID-19, including infection prevention guidelines which are constantly being updated. She has participated in webinars in the country particularly on the treatment landscape of COVID-19.
She is a Philippine-board certified internist and adult infectious disease specialist with a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (UP College of Medicine) and a Master of Science in Clinical Tropical Medicine (Mahidol University, Thailand). She is a Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. She completed her medical degree at the University of the Philippines-College of Medicine and her residency training in Internal Medicine and clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the UP-Philippine General Hospital.
Dr Alejandria has more than 10 years of experience in clinical epidemiology research and clinical management of infectious diseases. She has completed epidemiologic studies on antimicrobial resistance, sepsis, leptospirosis, dengue, HIV, pneumonia and UTI. In addition, Dr Alejandria has done health policy researches and evaluation of component programs for tuberculosis in the Department of Health. She recently participated in the 2016 National TB Prevalence Survey as Deputy Director of the project.
